Girls Cross Country runs at Wolverine Invitational

Varsity runners showing off their socks!

On Friday, after a quick exit from the Homecoming Pep assembly, and before the rain hit, the girls cross country team ran at the Wolverine Invitational.  Historically, Waterford is one of our favorite courses, but the perfect storm of bad weather and a Homecoming football game on the horizon, it wasn’t the teams best showing of the season.  Racing to new season PRs were juniors Nicole Wallace and Natalie Schumacher, and senior Lilly Thielitz.   Anna Merten medaled by taking 9th place overall in 20:36.   Marleah Hilger took 23rd place overall in 21:36, and Julianna Campbell ran a 22:12, her second best time of the season.

The Northstars head to Muskego on Saturday to run at the Classic 8 Conference Championships.   JV competes at 9:30, while varsity runs at 10:50.   This meet will also be our VIP Day with select staff members chosen by each team member to be our guests of honor.  Each runner and coach invited someone from the Northstar faculty to be her VIP.    This year’s VIPs will be given a pink team tshirt to help us support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, something the team does each October.   At Waterford, the team ran in pink ribbon socks to bring awareness to the cause.
